Award-winning entrepreneur and founder of Solo Noir, Andrea Polk, features at the 2019 The Workshop At Macy's
The efforts of Andrea Polk and her passion business excellence have been recently recognized as she was selected to participate in the 2019 class of The Workshop At Macy's. The founder of Solo Noir, a provider of innovative all natural 2-in-1 grooming products for men with textured hair has continued to demonstrate for her work, vision and bravery, with sharp insights and customer-oriented approach adopted in running her business endearing her to both her customers and the industry at large.
Starting up a business and ensuring the continued existence of the business can be very difficult. It is even more difficult for female entrepreneurs to hold their own particularly in a highly-competitive business environment. One woman that seems to have gone against all odds to become a success in a seemingly male-dominated industry is Andrea Polk, founding Solo Noir and growing the brand to gain the interest of different stakeholders including seasoned executives and buyers across the globe.
The recent inclusion of Andrea Polk in the 2019 class of The Workshop At Macy's is a further reiteration of her drive for excellence. The program is one of Macy’s key initiatives to create pipelines for supplier diversity, graduating over 100 companies, many of which have gone on to establish vendor relationships with one or more Macy's, Inc. brands. Nearly 3,000 applications were received for the class of 2019 with 15 brands making up the class. Macy's basically saw promise in the brand and wanted to partner in bringing men with textured hair a grooming outlet.
“To have seasoned executives and buyers find interest in Solo Noir products was humbling, it validated that I have staying power and that there is a white space in the market for my brand, and that is such an amazing feeling,” says Andrea Polk.
In addition to participating in The Workshop At Macy's, Andrea Polk has also received recognition from different quarters, named one of Ariel Investment’s Top 40 Under 40 Game Changers in Chicago in 2014. She was also selected to showcase Solo Noir to international buyers in South Africa alongside 10 other top businesses from Chicago with the brand named Best Consumer Product in Chicago in 2017.
